IVA FINAL PRESENTATION

Introduction of Visual Arts!
I really love this module as our task was to evaluate about a movie that has 18th/19th century art related stuff in it. The movie that we have chose was The Last Samurai, directed by Edward Zwick and Starring Tom Cruise and Ken Watanabe. I really love that movie! Lots of action and story moral value in the movie! I love the art direction too as well as the soundtrack! Really really epic!!

Basically, the movie set in Japan during the 1870s, The Last Samurai tells the story of Capt. Nathan Algren (Tom Cruise), a respected American military officer hired by the Emperor of Japan to train the country's first army in the art of modern warfare. As the Emperor attempts to eradicate the ancient Imperial Samurai warriors in preparation for more Westernized and trade-friendly government policies, Algren finds himself unexpectedly impressed and influenced by his encounters with the Samurai, which places him at the center of a struggle between two eras and two worlds, with only his own sense of honor to guide him.

After watching the film, we have to make a ppt about it and present it during our final lesson. The research and process was really tedious. Haha! But we managed to do it! Kind of easy for me.. hehehe!! Our presentation was good! Our lecturer like it! He was very engrossed when we presented our ppt! Without my awesome teamates which i call my brothers, the presentation would be a failure....

STAR WARS

Star Wars!! My most favourite Movie ever!!!! From episode 1 to 6! All the episode are awesome!! Best science fiction movie ever!! The action and the cg is really amazing and realistic!!

Aside from its well known science fictional technology, Star Wars features elements such asknighthood, chivalry, and princesses that are related to archetypes of the fantasy genre. The Star Warsworld, unlike fantasy and science-fiction films that featured sleek and futuristic settings, was portrayed as dirty and grimy. Lucas' vision of a "used future" was further popularized in the science fiction-horror films Alien, which was set on a dirty space freighter; Mad Max 2, which is set in a post-apocalyptic desert; and Blade Runner, which is set in a crumbling, dirty city of the future. Lucas made a conscious effort to parallel scenes and dialogue between films, and especially to parallel the journeys of Luke Skywalker with that of his father Anakin when making the prequels.

But i have i no idea why people hate star wars!!! Its worth the watch!!!

EPOS LIGHT

The EPOS Light is a concept for the world’s smallest cash register. Something like this could really increase the speed of service at a restaurant, for instance, but who knows if the cost would equal the benefits.

The EPOS-lite. The EPOS-lite is a concept for the worlds lightest cash register. Its design is inspired by the Apple MacBook Air and iPhone. The EPOS-lite is for use in hospitality departments and combines a compact cash register with a built-in menu. The quickly updated menu essentially saves businesses reprinting new menu data.

It features
- Built-in food and drink menu and payment optionsWireless charging via table it is placed upon.

The EPOS-lite was showcased at the University of Wolverhampton degree show '08 and at New Designers '08, London. The product received a great amount of positive feedback. During September '08 the EPOS-lite was featured on the Behance Network and became a worldwide hit. I am currently receiving interest from major companies to market the product in the near future.

Life in NAFA

Well, it's been two months already! And i really had a good time in NAFA! Such an awesome school, as well as great friends i got here!! School is yet awesome though the assignments and projects are crazy!!

Most of my lecturers here are kind and knowledgeable!! They are able to share their ideas and views easily with us! They never stop assisting us during our assignments and projects!

My classmates here are great!! Bunch of amazing talented people!!! Didn't expect that i'm able to be so close with them! We constantly help each other with our projects and assignments! Very helpful and kind! Although we've been together for two months or so, we are pretty close with each other! Seems like we've been friends for ages! Fortunate to have them!!

The Last Samurai

Samurai!! Always wanted to be a samurai since i was a kid!! It's just so cool and it really really looks like a total badass with those armours and katana swords....

I was influenced by the movie i watched when i was kid! One of the best film i've watched! Directed by Edward Zuwick and featuring Tom Cruise as the main lead actor in the film! Movie name is The Last Samurai! It's an epic war film genre. My favourite! I love war films!! Basically, the movie depicts in the 1870s, Captain Nathan Algren, a cynical veteran of the American Civil war who will work for anyone, is hired by Americans who want lucrative contracts with the Emperor of Japan to train the peasant conscripts for the first standing imperial army in modern warfare using firearms. The imperial Omura cabinet's first priority is to repress a rebellion of traditionalist Samurai -hereditary warriors- who remain devoted to the sacred dynasty but reject the Westernizing policy and even refuse firearms. Yet when his ill-prepared superior force sets out too soon, their panic allows the sword-wielding samurai to crush them. Badly wounded Algren's courageous stand makes the samurai leader Katsumoto spare his life; once nursed to health he learns to know and respect the old Japanese way, and participates as advisor in Katsumoto's failed attempt to save the Bushido tradition, but Omura gets repressive laws enacted- he must now choose to honor his loyalty to one of the embittered sides when the conflict returns to the battlefield...

P I Z Z A

My number one favourite food!! Pizza! I just love eating them especially those feeshly baked hot from the oven!! Cheese and Pepperoni!! Well, let me share with you people bits of the history behind this delicious pizzas!!! The word pizza came from the Latin verb pìnsere, to press and from the Greek pēktos, πηκτός, meaning "solid" or "clotted".

A popular urban legend holds that the archetypal pizza, Pizza Margherita, was invented in 1889, when the Royal Palace of Capodimonte commissioned the Neapolitan pizzaiolo Raffaele Esposito to create a pizza in honor of the visiting Queen Margherita. Of the three different pizzas he created, the Queen strongly preferred a pie swathed in the colors of the Italian flag: red (tomato), green (basil), and white (mozzarella). Supposedly, this kind of pizza was then named after the Queen as Pizza Margherita, though recent research casts doubt on this legend.

Many varieties of pizza exist worldwide, along with several dish variants based upon pizza. Pizza is cooked in various types of ovens, and a diverse variety of ingredients and toppings are utilized. Most of the time, i would buy pizzas from Canadian Pizzas or Saprino pizzas. To me, their pizzas are the best!! I'm craving for pizza right now!

LIFE OF PI

Life of Pi, one of the best film i have ever watched! Such an amazing story and the Computer Generated Images (cgi) was really breath taking and realistic! Ang Lee really made a good job on portraying the story! The storyline revolves around a 16-year-old Indian boy named Piscine Molitor "Pi" Patel, who survives a shipwreck in which his family dies, and is stranded in the Pacific Ocean on a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard Parker. Upon release, Life of Pi became a critical and commercial success, earning over $600 million worldwide. At the 85th Academy Awards it had eleven nominations, including Best Picture, and won four (the most for the evening) including Best Director for Ang Lee. It was also nominated for three Golden Globe Awards which included the Best Picture – Drama and the Best Director and won theGolden Globe Award for Best Original Score. The movie was worth the watch! Really amazing!

3D Desktop Concept

Awesome futuristic desktop! This concept may be my favorite. When not in use, it’s a desk lamp. Need a 3D or hologram monitor? Pull down the black hologram screen to see documents pop out on your desktop. When you're not using it, it works as a desk lamp. Bring the black curtain down so that the hologram can be seen more clearly in front of you. There are tiny projectors installed, giving off 3D hologram in front of the curtain. Touching the 3D objects would be really fun. Dragging, throwing, resizing, etc., but crushing paper to dispose it would be the most interesting. A browser window can be resized by actually "pinching" and dragging the tab at bottom right. This would be very awesome technology.

Google Glass

Believe it not, this google glasses are real! Google launched its Project Glass on Google+ last month, sending techies and futurists into a minor hysteria. The glasses which don't actually feature lenses, according to preliminary photos released by the company — will project augmented reality images into wearers' field of vision. So when you wake up in the morning, for example, you'll see weather forecasts, appointments and online correspondences projected in front of your eyes. Google has already released a concept video for the devices, and posted shots of people modeling early designs. Hopefully i get my hands on this one day! Very useful!

OLED TABLET

Future OLED tablet design... Another concept design using glass technology, this one is for a tablet, such as an iPad, with touch-screen capabilities. Well, this is absolutely cool and futuristic. It really makes you feel that you are in the Iron Man Or Avatar world. Hahahahah! But i really wish that i could own this right now!!! Its really super amazing and cool! Imagine uaing this in the public and everybody will be mesmerise by what they see. Damn! But definitely, this glass technology tablet will be a dream come true one day.

Wearable Future Mobile Music Concept

This is one of the most futuristic mobile music player ever! Best design i've seen so far! Really modern and useful. It helps to connect yourself with the outside worldPerfect music on the perfect spot at the perfect time. BodyWear it around your wrist, just like a watch. It also works as a watch.By default, it's transparent, but when you want to make it stand out, just change the colors/patterns or use your favorite photo on the background. The lucent screens are flexible to be transformed into a device you can put in your pocket. Built-in microphone detects your voice (and humming).Heart beat can also be detected with the built-in censor. EarphonesIt changes your ears into a concert hall. It's really cool! I would like to get this one day for myself!

Industrial Pollution

This is my 2D individual project! We were given 4 themes, Carnival, Industrial Pollution, Symphony Orchestra and Transportation. Out of this four, we can only chose one theme! I decided to chose industrial pollution as i love to create those dark emotionless kind of artwork. The main element that we have to use is bascially shapes! So, by using graphic amd repetition kind of thing for this project might be appropriate for it. I decided to draw a group of humans wearing the gas mask, marching out from the industrial plants and factories. The only colours that i used were just black, grey and white. Well, it suppose to be dark and emotionless, so yeah, that's the perfect colour scheme for my artwork. Many of my friends told me that i am crazy as i habe to draw alot of the humans  with gas mask. But fortunately, i managed to do it and finally i'm done with it! Looks amazing!!^^

Angel of Death

This is basically my group's 2D A0 project. No themes or whatever were given to us. We have to come up with something beautiful and nice and that was really hard. Me and my group brainstormed till we had our brain juices drained literally. Hahaha!! It was tough! Really! Of course in a group project there will be ups and downs, conflicts everywhere and different ideas and views are clashing with each other. We finally decided to do a portrait of an Angel of Death but using typography. Intsead, we change our focus to texture as typography was not able to make the wing stand out! For the wings we used paper cutouts and combine all those paper feathers forming a wing.  I think my group os doing well now. Bettee tham before and hopefully me and my gorupmates are able to finish it and submit it in time!

Wing Chun

Wing Chun, best martial art skill i have ever learned! Learned it when i was in Sec 3. Started by practise some of the moves i learned from the movie and some tutorial videos from youtube, as well from some books. Took up a class but i stopped half way as i was too busy with school. I was inspired to learn it after watching Bruce Lee's ass-kicking movies and Donnie Yen portrayal as Ip Man. In my opinion, Ip Man which was directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen as Ip Man, was the best martial arts movie ever. The action choreography was really amazing and realistic. It wasn't too made up unlike other kung fu films. Wing chun is indeed a graceful and relax martial arts, almost the same as taichi. But it's attacking and blocking skills are quite violent though. Although Wing Chun was invented by a women, many men has stepped forward to globally spread this authentic martial art just like how Ip Man and Bruce Lee(his disciple) did. Below are some images on the forms of wing chun. I used this guide to practise my forms. But it's been a long time i never practise it. Hopefully i still know some of the moves...

Future Singapore

This is one of my Digital Artwork i did using photoshop when i was in Secondary School. It was just for fun. I had nothing to do on that particular day during cca. Then i decided to do something to make full use of the time. I did the sketches on a sketchbook first and i scan it and transfer it to photoshop. In photoshop thwn i did the colours and stuff. It was abit plain. But i like the robotic merlion though. Looks cool to me. And yeah, i designed that too!!:) I just can't help it, i love designing robots... hahah! Well, this a future landscape of Singapore in the year 2050. Sometimes i wonder, how will the world looks like in 50 years time. Will our world be devastated?Conquered by some intelligent alien life forms? Or everything will be the same as now. Only time will tell....

J&K Foods

I just love Japanese and Korean foods. They are just awesome!! The tempura, Kimchi, udon, bento and sushi!! What i like about them is that, the serving looks very little but it really can make your stomach full! Plus, it's quite a healthy meal, does not contain high amout of fat intakes. Hahaha! I don't really eat it everyday. Unless i'm craving for it, then i will go out and eat it. Luckily, there's Seoul Garden, which sell halal korean cuisines and there is some shop at the foodcourt which sell halal japanese foods too! I don't find any trouble looking for Halal Japanese and Korean foods here in Singapore. It's been a long time i never had those. Kinda broke now... so yeah! Hahaha!

IRON MAN GLOVE

I was told that we have to use recycle material to make a particular sculpture that can be useful for 3D Fundamentals. I seriously have no idea on what to construct! After doing lots of research and study, i came up of making a glove out of boxes. After few minutes of making the particular model, it kinda look like an Ironman glove armour! And so yeah, thats how my idea of making an iron man costume came up. For now, i only did the glove. Maybe during the holidays, i'll be doing the full body costume using just cardboard and boxes.

Optical Illusion

I've always been fasinated by optical illusion.. So one day, it was after my O level exams last year. Me and my two best buddies wanted to have lunch together that day. While walking to our destination, we realised that there was a big field near the Ang Mo Kio Library... so we decided to try out the optical illusion thing that i saw in the internet! It was really really cool!! I then told one of my friend to stand all the way to the far end while my another friend stand few metres near my camera. My camera was place 90° off the ground. This is where the trick comes in.... It was kinda hard but the outcome of the photo was cool though it was abit too simple. Anyway, it was a hot sunny day that day. We perspiring like hell!! Damn!!!

Transformers: Age of Extinction

Finally, an official poster and title for the upcoming 4th installment of the  Transformers franchise. I was really happy to know about it as i'm a biggest fan of Tranformers! Optimus Prime is my favourite! Haha! I've been waiting for it for such a long time. From what i heard so far, the 4th installment will took place 4 years after the third film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon. So, no more Sam Witwicky and his friends. New bunch of human characters were added in this new film. The lead actor will Mark Wahlberg. I will be the main lead human role in the movie. The Autobots will be back of course with a new bunch of Autobots and both Optimus and Bumblebee will get new design for this film. Really can't wait to see their new robot mode. Hopefully it will look more awesome and badass. The main Decepticon villian is still unknown but there will be a new human villian in this film. Hopefully, the teaser trailer will come soon...

WWE SUPERSTAR AT BUGIS+!!

Few weeks ago, it was in a Saturday if i'm not wrong, i was doing my 2D group project with my fellow classmates. After project was done, I went for lunch alone at Macdonalds in Bugis+ alone. The others have went back except for me. They didn't join for lunch! I was having My Big Mac Meal. While i was eating, i overheard some convoversation from a passer by. They were saying that a WWE Superstar will be at Bugis+ at 3.30pm on that day. I was shocked! After my lunch, i headed in to bugis+ and check if what they said was real. And yeah, it was true!! it was big crowd! After few minutes of waiting, he arrived! His name is Booker T. Really big and muscular! Famous WWE wrestler. I've been dreaming of meeting one of the wrestler! Amazing experience even though i could only took a picture of him.
